Tang Stamps
It’s been said that every Case knife tells a story. That story begins with the unique blade marking, or tang stamp, applied to every Case knife, indicating its date of production. Case has used various tang stamps throughout its history, making it one of the world’s most-collected knife brands over time. The following includes some frequently used tang stamps.
1914 - 1920
The oval and circular CASE XX TESTED tang stamps were often secondary stamps.
In 1916, the earliest known examples of stainless steel products were made and labeled using the CASE’S STAINLESS tang stamp.
1920 - 1940
Look familiar? Case’s iconic script font and container-C came into play around the 1920’s
1940 - 1964
A little here, a little there. Blades from this era sport various tang stamps highlighting (or eschewing) different information and text formats.
1965
In 1965, all manufacturers were required by law to label the country of origin on their products. Case began using the U.S.A. stamp on all patterns.
